Invented by Samuel Rust. Rust's Washington style press soon became the most popular and successful hand press in America. Rust's main competitor was R. Hoe & Co. Hoe was a ruthless businessman and tried to buyout Rust many times without success. He resorted to trickery and had one of his employees purchase Rust's entire operation! Hoe went on to sell thousands of Washington style presses. Original Rust presses are extremely rare.
