Taylor was a major builder of Washington style presses. He started out as a foreman for R. Hoe & Co., left and started his own business which grew quite large. Taylor was a very ingenious engineer, whose later inventions included the air cushion pots used on all cylinder presses, and one of the first auto feeders for cylinder presses.
