As the digital revolution continues to revolutionize our every step in life, one cannot help but look at the printing industry as a primary catalyst for the information age. The machinery and printing processes did not change much from the time of Gutenberg until 1800. The early 1800s marked a turning point in our industry and certainly helped set the stage for the industrial revolution.
Sidney White and I shared an enthusiasm for printing history and started collecting unique printing machinery while they grew a used machinery business. Over these many years our collection has become one of the largest collections of antique printing memorabilia in the world.
Just as with the printing industry, our company has changed tremendously over the years. The transformation of a used machinery business into a machinery manufacturing company has changed our space requirements dramatically. While we still maintain a substantial used equipment operation, the future of our business lies within the new equipment sector.
With our future in mind, we have chosen to offer for sale our entire antique collection. Never before has such a collection been available for sale. We will first start with the larger items that will be sold in an eBay auction format. At some point, we will also be generating a list of our smaller items that will be available for purchase at a later date.
We will start our bi-weekly auctions beginning October 7 th with the Columbian Press. Every other week another antique press will be put up for sale on eBay. We will have a buy it now price on all presses for immediate purchase.
Over the years, we have had the opportunity of meeting many interesting folks who have helped us piece together this fine collection. The many calls and visits from our fellow antiquarians is something that we will not soon forget.
If you have any questions on any of the pieces, please do not hesitate to call John at 1-908-351-6906 . Good Luck in your bidding.
